Sunday – not a day of rest!

Sunday Sept 6, 2009

Had a fast and furious ride with Sara (on her Madone 5.2).We headed up CO 56 west of Berthoud and took Carter Lake Rd behind the hogsback to where it crosses CO 34. We went across and rode a nice stretch of a quiet, rural road up around the water project and down thru Eden Valley. From there we went north on CR 27 thru Masonville and on up to the Trailhead above Horsetooth Resevoir  that provides access to the Roosevelt National Forest. The route gains over 1,000 ft on the way out. We went back by CR 25 / Glade Rd which is a long gradual descent after an initial short (rather steep) climb. We had a headwind on the way back but that’s OK. In the past couple of years I’ve made peace with the wind so now I don’t let it bother me. The stronger it blows, the better the training opportunity!

This was a little faster than I generally go (for a ride this long)  if I’m out by myself so I was plenty tired when I got home.
